The NBA Trade deadline came and went on Wednesday and while some teams found pieces to improve. the Chicago Bulls picked up Troy Brown Jr. from Washington who could find his potential with his new team.

Troy Brown Jr. only spend one season with Oregon Basketball, but he was able to show off his skills and talent enough to be a first-round NBA Draft pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Washington Wizards saw a high upside in his potential.

While with the Ducks, he could play four of the five positions on the floor. With the Washington Wizards, Brown Jr. did find some success, but his potential was seen in small doses.

Washington Wizards General Manager discussed the trade with NBC Sports saying that the trade was best because, despite his high upside, the team was never able to find a specific role on the team for their former first-round pick. Similar to being able to play pretty much anywhere on the floor with the Ducks, it ended up costing him floor time in the long run, “One thing probably for us is that Troy was so good at so many things that we never really gave it a narrow ‘what is exactly his role.”

This season Brown Jr. played in 21 games averaging just over 4 points and 2 rebounds per game. In his 142 games with the Washington Wizards, his numbers are not much better putting up 7 points and 4 rebounds per game.

The Bulls followed up the trade deadline with a 19-24 record. Brown Jr. played mostly at the Small Forward position with Washington and currently, the Bulls have two Small Forwards on the roster in veteran Otto Porter and Chandler Hutchison. Brown could easily find his form and find a place on the floor for the Bulls the remainder of this season. His ability to play multiple spots on the floor should provide some early flexibility for the Bulls coaching staff to see where his abilities are.

The Chicago Bulls visit the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm Pacific Time.
