Dominique McKenzie was looking like a strong BYU lean until Oregon football offered the three-star wide out a few weeks ago.

Oregon picked up a big commitment on Friday afternoon as Trejon Williams chose the Ducks over a host of other top programs. Mario Cristobal and the Ducks offered him about a month ago and it was basically a done deal at that point.

The Ducks have a way with recruits. When they seem to be trending one way, the Ducks showing more interest seems to be all that’s needed to get them to reconsider.

There’s another recruit who seems to be following that same exact trend. Three-star receiver Dominique McKenzie was looking like a strong BYU lean along with his brother, but the Ducks have gotten involved and now they’re picking up some momentum in this recruitment.

In fact, the Ducks picked up a crystal ball on 247Sports for McKenzie with a “high” confidence rating which shows that there’s a strong feeling that he’ll be in Eugene next year.

McKenzie is a top priority for BYU, but the Ducks offered back on March 5 and the trend since then has been Oregon. If you’re a receiver recruit, that BYU offense might have been a decent draw this year, but Zach Wilson isn’t walking back through that door. Oregon has an entire room of quarterbacks who could become elite.

The 6-foot-0, 160-pound receiver from Saint George, Utah, is starting to look like a top option for the Ducks and we shouldn’t really be surprised if he goes from BYU lean to Oregon commit.

He’s ranked the No. 107 receiver and 11th-best recruit from Utah in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports. He currently holds 10 offers.
