1. Quarterback

If you didn’t know this was coming at No. 1, you’ve probably been living under a rock for the past few months. Oregon lost Tyler Shough to the transfer portal and Anthony Brown announced he would be returning for a final season in Eugene.

Simply put, the quarterback battle is going to be a topic of conversation all spring not just locally, but it will receive national attention.

Why? Because Oregon is the Pac-12 favorite and that quarterback battle could be the difference between a playoff berth and an average 8-9 win season with no New Year’s Six bowl. It’s truly that important for the Ducks.

Right now, Brown looks like the favorite just because he has experience, but we can’t really count Ty Thompson out as he was a top-40 recruit in the country and has all the talent in the world. Jay Butterfield and Robby Ashford are the dark-horses in the quarterback battle, but you also can’t count them out.

Plenty of talent, very little experience and about a million eyes across the country watching to see what’s going to happen this spring under center in Eugene.
