6. Defensive backfield

Not much is known about the defensive backfield heading into spring ball — and that’s OK.

Oregon luckily has a few months to figure out the rotation in the defensive backfield before opening the season against Fresno State. The talent is there so this position group could become a strength before the season is over and that’s why ranking Oregon’s position groups is so tough — there’s a boatload of talent at each spot but some is just less experienced.

Mykael Wright, Verone McKinley, DJ James, Jamal Hill, and Steve Stephens are all projected to start in the defensive backfield to replace the handful of starters departing.
