2. Linebackers

In this 3-4 defensive look, the Ducks will need plenty of depth and talent at the linebacker position and it’s a good thing they have just that.

Mase Funa, Treven Ma’ae, Jaden Navarrette, Brandon Buckner and Terrell Tilmon will anchor the STUD spot. Funa has all-conference potential after posting 35 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore in 2020. There’s not a ton of experience behind him, but these guys are no slouches, either.

Isaac Slade-Matautia, Justin Flowe, and Jabril McNeill will be posting up at the WILL spot. Slade-Matautia led the team in tackles last season and he might have the best backup in the entire conference behind him in Flowe, a former five-star recruit.

At middle linebacker, Noah Sewell is the breakout candidate of everyone’s choice this season. He “broke out” in a shortened 2020 season with 48 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks but he could be an All-American candidate with a full season of action. Behind him are seniors Nate Heaukulani and Dru Mathis along with incoming four-star freshman Keith Brown.

Lastly, the SAM position will be led by Adrian Jackson who didn’t play much in 2020 but was a top-200 recruit in his high school days. Jackson LaDuke and Jonathan Flowe will be backing him up.

Talk about depth and talent; this position group has both in bunches.
