1. Wide receivers/Tight ends

Anyone who tries to argue the receivers and tight ends don’t make up the best unit on the team as it stands in spring 2021 needs to be immediately evaluated.

Let’s start with the tight ends.

Hunter Kampmoyer is gone but DJ Johnson is projected to be back as a starter with Spencer Webb, Cam McCormick, and Patrick Herbert returning as well. Coming in as four-star early enrollees are Moliki Matavao and Terrance Ferguson. This room is full of former four-stars who need some experience but who could make up a potential breakout group.

Now onto the receivers. This group is going to be elite.

Mycah Pittman, Jaylon Redd, and Johnny Johnson are the projected starters but I could also see Devon Williams sliding into that No. 1 role. He’s my favorite to be the breakout receiver this season after finishing 2020 with 15 catches for 286 yards and two touchdowns, leading the team.

As if those four receivers aren’t good enough, add Kris Hutson, Josh Delgado, Troy Franklin, and Dont’e Thornton to the mix. Those are four more of the youngest, most talented receivers in the entire conference.

Whoever starts at quarterback is going to have some serious weapons.

Next. Pros, cons of Ty Thompson potentially being named QB1. dark
