The 2021 NFL Draft is right around the corner and player comparisons are a big thing right now. If you’ve been following the pre-draft process for Penei Sewell, you’d realize that he’s being touted as the best lineman of the class and one of the best in the past decade.

Sewell is being compared to some of the best tackles in the NFL and there’s been even higher praise of him floating around pertaining to his potential.

Experts are saying that the Bengals would be crazy to pass up on Sewell to protect Joe Burrow for the next decade-plus. He will be the best available player by the fifth overall pick and there are some scouts and coaches who actually believe he might be the best prospect in the draft class.

In fact, according to a column from Peter King, a coach told him that Sewell is the one player in this class who has the best Hall of Fame potential.

"“If I could pick one player in this draft who’s got the best chance to go to the Hall of Fame, it’s Penei Sewell,” one coach told me. “He’s my left tackle from day one.”"

For those who have watched Sewell from day one, this comes as no surprise. This dude is special and he’s going to start for at least a decade in the NFL and be an All-Pro almost immediately.

Is Penei Sewell the safest 2021 draft pick?

While this is some incredible praise from one coach, there are other prospects who may be considered low-risk, high-reward picks such as Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, or Justin Fields but Sewell’s potential is Hall of Fame-worthy and there’s a good chance he could be one of those rare rookie Pro Bowlers.

Sewell is up there with the safest picks at the top of the draft and he might just be that guy who is a can’t-go-wrong selection.

In fact, if any team in the top five were to draft him, it wouldn’t be a head-scratcher nor would it be considered a reach.

Hall of Fame left tackle Penei Sewell has a nice ring to it.
