The first round of the 2021 NFL Draft has come and passed and Oregon football star Jevon Holland’s name is still on the board.

While no one really expected him to go in the first round, he’s still talented enough to be one of those fringe-first, early-second round prospects. He’s one of the best defensive backs in this year’s draft class and one former NFL player even compared him to Charles Woodson.

Thirty-two teams passed on Holland in the first round despite needing a safety and we didn’t see any from the position going, including projected first-rounder Trevon Moehrig. That means there could be a lot of teams in rounds two and three looking for a safety.

Who wouldn’t want a guy who 66 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and four pass breakups back in his final season before opting out of the 2020 campaign?

Where could Jevon Holland land on Day 2?

Holland was in that 40-50 range in terms of big board rankings and there are plenty of teams from the 33-50 range that need a safety.

The earliest possible spot for Holland in round two could be the first pick because the Jaguars need a safety. I could see Moehrig being higher on their board, however. Let’s say the Jaguars go with Moehrig, which team could be next to snag Holland?

Both the Dolphins and Eagles need a safety at picks 36 and 37. Whether they take one or address other needs remains to be seen.

The Panthers (No. 39), 49ers (No. 43), Cowboys (No. 44), Jaguars (No. 45), Patriots (No. 46), Chargers (No. 47), Raiders (No. 48), and Dolphins (No. 50) could all take him. And that’s the sweet spot for his range, according to his big board ranking.

So where do I see him going? I don’t see him going before 40, but I think that the Chargers could take him at No. 47 but a couple of dark-horses would be the Jaguars and Dolphins.

It’d be pretty cool to see Holland and Justin Herbert reunite in Los Angeles.
