A recent report revealed that newly-transferred Jordan Johnson was being targeted by Oregon along with about a dozen other schools just days after announcing he would be leaving Notre Dame and hitting the portal. He immediately became the hottest receiver on the market and the Ducks couldn’t help themselves, reaching out to him on day one.
Does Oregon need another receiver? Not at all. But could the Ducks use another elite target to help a first-year starting quarterback ease into his new role? Absolutely.
Oregon has one of the best receiving corps in the country with about 7-8 guys who would start on most teams, but landing Johnson would give this team a future WR1 when a couple of guys inevitably leave after this season due to transfers or the NFL.
Johnson is a former five-star prospect from the 2020 class and he was listed as the No. 6 receiver and No. 37 overall recruit, according to the composite. He held over two dozen offers, including one from Oregon, and he should be a top target for the Ducks this summer.
Landing Johnson would lock Oregon in with the best receiving corps in the Pac-12.
