This transfer addition just made too much sense for Oregon. When Quincy Guerrier hit the portal on May 1, Oregon was one of the first teams that came to my mind because Dana Altman and the Ducks recruited him out of high school before he chose Syracuse. So when the Ducks got a second shot at him, I didn’t think they were going to miss.

Plus, Oregon desperately needed a wing after losing LG Figueroa, Chris Duarte, Chandler Lawson, and Johnathan Lawson decommitted and followed his brother to Memphis.

Guerrier will be starting at small forward from day one and he fits the mold perfectly. He’s a tough wing who can crash the boards, score inside, and defend. If he improves his shot, he could be the perfect inside-out small forward. He only made 31 percent of his shots from 3-point range but that was up considerably from 13 percent as a freshman.

What impresses me most about Guerrier is his ability to rebound from the small forward spot. He averaged 5.3 boards and 0.8 blocks as a freshman and improved that to 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game as a sophomore.

Oregon got a really good one here.
