The 2020 season had a date circled by many Oregon football fans. It was a September date with the Ohio State Buckeyes. However, with the pandemic and the Pac-12 moving the season to a conference-only model, the game was canceled.

Oregon AD Rob Mullens had said recently that he had planned to find a place for a makeup game to bring Ohio State to Eugene. The decision has been made and a home and home series agreed upon, but Oregon fans will have to wait a while as they did when the first series with Ohio State was announced back in 2012.

The most excited group of football players will be middle schoolers,  as they will be the ones playing in the games in 2032 and 2033. Both games will be played on the second Saturday in September with the Ducks being the host first. Keep in mind that Oregon still has a date with Ohio State in 2021, as it was just the game last year that was canceled.

With scheduling forward, Oregon football this season, next season, and 2026 are all set for opponents. Both teams tried to find a compromise in a season sooner but were not able to. The Ducks also have something to prove. The Ducks are 0-9 versus Ohio State, which could become 1-9 this year.

Another team that was headed to Eugene to open 2020, North Dakota State has also made the decision to reschedule a game with the Ducks. This time, not as far out as Ohio State. NDSU will face Oregon at Autzen Stadium on September 2, 2028. The Bison also added some other Pac-12 opponents to their future calendar facing Arizona in 2022 and Colorado in 2024. Oregon and North Dakota State have never met on the football field.

Opening the 2020 season against one of the top teams at the FCS level over the last few seasons would have been one of the more intriguing matchups of the season for the Ducks, but it will now have to wait.

The second part of the home and home with Ohio State will take place in Columbus on Saturday, September 11th. Kickoff is set for 9 am Pacific Time on FOX.
