Mario Cristobal is back at it again. With the dead period over, he’s making some big moves on the recruiting trail for Oregon football.

The latest is making the cut for five-star athlete Keon Sabb.

The five-star prospect from IMG Academy (Fla.) is ranked the No. 19 overall prospect in the nation and the top overall athlete, according to the composite. But 247Sports is even higher on Sabb as he’s ranked the No. 7 overall player in the class.

On Tuesday as the NCAA’s dead period concluded, he released his list of top six schools which — as you can imagine — is absolutely loaded.

Clemson, Georgia, Penn State, Texas A&M, and LSU are also on his list as it looks like it’ll be an absolute dogfight to land him. As of right now, however, he has zero crystal balls on 247Sports.

The 6-2, 200-pounder was being compared to the Broncos’ Justin Simmons by 247Sports recruiting expert Brian Dohn. He projects as a safety at the collegiate level but has experience on both sides of the ball.

Oregon football in another heated battle

Like Jaleel Skinner who just released his top schools list last week, Sabb’s trimmed list is absolutely loaded.

Oregon is facing a major uphill battle to land him. In fact, the Ducks are one of just two teams to make the cut for him to not have an official visit locked in just yet. He’s planning on visiting Penn State, Clemson, Texas A&M, and Georgia in the month of June while LSU and Oregon are battling for that final official.

If Oregon can land Sabb, they’ll add to that growing secondary and have another elite unit in 2022 with a potential freshman starter.

Cristobal has some work to do here, but making this list is a great start.
