2. Chance to contend for a national title

When you look at JT Tuimoloau’s list of finalists, three stand out as serious national title contenders right away: Ohio State, Alabama, and Oregon.

Ohio State is the current favorite to land Tuimoloau, according to 247Sports, while it seems like Alabama could hand-pick anyone they want every cycle. This could be a lowkey two-team battle between Ohio State and Alabama, but the draw or Oregon is going to keep the Ducks in the race. He could stay closer to home on the West Coast and still contend for a title.

Sure, Washington technically won the Pac-12 North last season and had to surrender its spot in the title game to Oregon but the Ducks are far more talented on paper and it’ll take a few years before Jimmy Lake has the Huskies in the national title conversation.

And don’t get me started on Clay Helton at USC. The Trojans aren’t going to win anything of substance with Helton in town, in my opinion. He could be going down with a sinking ship here.

If he wants to contend for a title and still stay close to home, Oregon is the safest option right now and it makes the most sense.
