Oregon football’s odds have improved with 5-star DL JT Tuimoloau
Just days after his visit with Oregon football, five-star defensive lineman JT Tuimoloau cancelled his trip to Alabama to close out his officials which means that he’s nearing a decision.
This also means that Alabama is eliminated from the race, as he told 247Sports following the choice to cancel his final trip.
The Crimson Tide were one of the two teams that were considered “warmer” in his recruitment up until the officials, but now that they’re eliminated, teams like Washington, USC, and Oregon have new life. Plus, the fact that he decided to do this after his trip to Eugene could be a good sign for the Ducks after Ohio State had been considered the heavy favorite before.
So now that one of the favorites to land Tuimoloau is out, Mario Cristobal has to feel pretty good about where he stands with the No. 1 recruit in the 2021 class.
Getting that last visit is always a good thing and the fact that it’s fresh on his mind heading into his final decision only helps Oregon here. The odds improve with Alabama dropping out but even more so with the decision to cancel the Alabama visit just days after seeing what Oregon has to offer.
Tuimoloau could give Oregon football another future No. 1 NFL prospect
Kayvon Thibodeaux was one of the best prospects in his class coming in and people knew that he was going to be a potential No. 1 overall prospect in the NFL draft and he’s achieved just that as Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay both have him as the projected top pick in the 2022 draft.
If Tuimoloau does pick Oregon, the Ducks would have another first overall NFL draft prospect and that would go a long way with future recruiting as well.
Winning this recruitment would be huge for Cristobal and it’s nice to hear some positive news after radio silence following his official visit.
