For just the second time since the dead period was lifted, Oregon football has landed a commitment from a top target in the 2022 class.

The first was Sir Mells, a three-star defensive lineman from Nevada who committed all the way back on June 5 and then on Monday, it was four-star linebacker TJ Dudley. Both commits are on opposite ends of the Ducks’ 2022 class as Mells was listed as the lowest-rated recruit on Oregon’s list of pledges and Dudley is the top-ranked.

In fact, Dudley becomes the 10th commit in Oregon’s 2022 class and he’s the first to be ranked in the top 200 on the composite.

Dudley is the third top-250 prospect along with Tanner Bailey and Trejon Williams and there could be a handful of others coming down the pipe in the near future. The Ducks look like they’re trending in the right direction with a number of top targets, but Dudley was a huge get.

The four-star linebacker reigns from Montgomery, Ala., and the Ducks beat out Alabama, Clemson, and Texas for his services, along with about two dozen others.

Oregon football soon to rise in team rankings

This commitment should shoot the Ducks up the team rankings on the 247Sports Composite where they were listed at No. 25 overall before Dudley became part of the class.

Oregon should now be flirting with the top 20 after landing their highest-ranked commit yet and there could be more good news on the horizon with four-star wide out Isaiah Sategna also trending toward the Ducks.

Mario Cristobal is putting in some serious work to get the class going after a slow start in the 2022 cycle.
