Nicholas Anderson wrapped up his official visit schedule with a trip to Eugene on June 25 to check out Oregon football. It was the Ducks’ last chance to impress him before he made a college decision before his senior year at Katy High School in Texas.

It was a tall task because the four-star receiver from the Lone Star State looked like a Notre Dame lean following his visit to South Bend and both USC and Penn State were also in the mix.

Mario Cristobal did just enough to sway the four-star wide out to Oregon as the Ducks landed him on Thursday evening over Notre Dame, Penn State, and USC.

With the commitment, Anderson becomes the sixth four-star commit in Oregon’s 2022 class, as well as the third-highest ranked Duck pledge.

It capped off a huge day for the Ducks as he became the third commitment in Oregon’s 2022 class on the day, following three-star lineman Cameron Williams — also from Texas — and three-star California-based offensive lineman Michael Wooten.

These commitments launched Oregon into the top 10 of the 2022 class rankings at No. 9. The Ducks started the day at No. 20.

Anderson continues Oregon football’s elite WR recruiting

The outlook at receiver in Eugene is favorable and will be for years to come. In the 2021 class, the Ducks landed Troy Franklin and Dont’e Thornton who both enrolled early and were also top-100 receiver recruits. They also added Isaiah Brevard, a top-200 receiver, in the 2021 class who didn’t enroll early but figures to have a big future in Eugene.

In 2020, they had Kris Hutson who was the No. 229 recruit in the class, and the current roster is loaded with talent at the position.

Anderson is the No. 215 prospect in the class and the No. 31 receiver which is good enough to maintain that elite status that the Ducks have in the receiving corps and will continue to possess for years to come.
