The No. 6 recruiting class in the country will be joining the Oregon football roster this summer, gearing up for a national title or bust season in 2021.
Oregon is bringing in the top recruiting class in the Pac-12 for the third straight season which is proof that Cristobal is one heck of a recruiter. He was once named the national recruiter of the year and he’s not slowing down any time soon.
Will the Ducks’ 2021 class help them win the Pac-12 for a third straight season and finally lead them back to the College Football Playoff? Possibly, but that’s a tall task.
Let’s just look at three true freshmen who could earn starting jobs this season.
I’ve been on the Terrance Ferguson bandwagon ever since the spring game when he looked like a veteran tight end and a star.
Oregon has been looking to improve that tight end position for years and it’s seemed like an eternity since the Ducks have had a top-tier player at the position. Spencer Webb, Patrick Herbert, and DJ Johnson may have the experience over Ferguson, but he matches up with each of those guys in terms of talent and potential.
Ferguson may actually raise the ceiling of this offense because he’s a complete tight end and plays older than a freshman.
The 6-5, 230-pounder was the No. 10 tight end in the 2021 class and he was being courted by just about everyone before choosing Oregon. He’s going to have a great career in Eugene and it wouldn’t surprise me if he started ahead of guys like Webb, Herbert, and Johnson.
