2. Cornerback

Like the other position battles on this list, I’m not sure Oregon could really go wrong with whatever it chooses here.

At one cornerback spot, Mykael Wright is a lock to start and might just become one of the best the Pac-12 has to offer in 2021. At the other cornerback spot, DJ James currently looks like he’s leading for the starting job, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see Dontae Manning slide over from his backup job behind Wright to steal the job.

Wright and Manning might create the best 1-2 combo at cornerback in the Pac-12 and there’s really no arguing that right now. They’re both incredibly talented and probably the best natural defensive backs on the roster.

Don’t sleep on guys like Trikweze Bridges, Jaylin Davies, and Avantae Dickerson, either. This might be the most loaded cornerback room in the Pac-12 and it’s going to make for one heck of a battle this fall.

If I’m Tim DeRuyter, though, I’m going with Manning and Wright.
