There are a handful of important targets still left on the board for Oregon football’s 2022 recruiting class and even though the Ducks have a top-10 group, they’re not done yet.

One of those top targets in the 2022 cycle is four-star athlete Jalil Tucker from San Diego, Calif., who is high on a number of Pac-12 programs, and the Ducks look to be the presumed favorites here. There are three crystal ball predictions on 247Sports for Tucker and all of them favor Oregon with a relatively high confidence level.

The notion that Oregon is the favorite was only strengthened on Monday when Greg Biggins of 247Sports reported that Tucker locked him his first official visit. And yes, it’s to Eugene.

The Ducks are set to get a visit from Tucker on Oct. 15 and it’s currently the only one he has planned this fall. Washington, USC, Cal, and Arizona State are also in the running for Tucker and each could eventually get a visit of some sort, but the fact that he made it a point to schedule one to Oregon before the rest is telling.

Mario Cristobal has made Tucker a priority and why wouldn’t he? Tucker is ranked the No. 62 overall recruit and fourth-best athlete in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports.

Tucker could be Oregon football’s latest elite DB

Many recruiting experts project Tucker to be a defensive back at the next level and Biggins compared him to Darius Slay. He could be a lockdown defensive back and elite athlete.

The Ducks have been producing elite defensive back talent over the years and even had a few selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. Plus, Mykael Wright and Dontae Manning look like they’re next.

The addition of Tucker to that defensive backfield will have the rest of the Pac-12 sweating.
