2. Ty Thompson is QB1

I’ve flipped my position on the quarterback battle about 10 times since the spring and I’m going to stick with this one because I believe it’s the best option for the Ducks and I truly think that Mario Cristobal is coming around to that realization as well.

Ty Thompson is going to be Oregon’s QB1 this season.

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I can talk about why I believe he’s going to be the starter for the Ducks and why it would be the best option.

I’ve already spoken extensively about the benefits of Thompson being QB1, and I think it’s a list that can be narrowed down to a few major bullet points.

  • Long-term starting option.
  • Most talented quarterback on the roster.
  • Dual-threat ability.

I’ve gone back and forth from Thompson being my favorite to win the job to Robby Ashford after spring ball and back to the freshman and I’m sticking with him.

While Anthony Brown might begin the season as the starter, Thompson will eventually take over and ride out the rest of the year as QB1.
