Oregon Football: 3 takeaways from shocking upset of No. 3 Ohio State
1. It’s time to put some respect on the Ducks’ name
No one — and I mean no one — was picking the Ducks to win this game. OK, I have to give Rece Davis some credit because he did say on College GameDay last weekend that Oregon was going to go into Columbus and win, but I don’t think he felt good about that prediction after watching the Ducks against Fresno State.
The Pac-12’s image took a hit a week ago as Washington lost to Montana, Oregon struggled with Fresno State, and other big names fell to weaker opponents.
Oregon had zero respect heading into Saturday’s game at Ohio State.
The Ducks were 16.5-point underdogs and yet somehow came out and looked like the favorite. The Ducks were more prepared and looked solid all afternoon long, leading to a big upset on the road, beating the No. 3 team in the nation and starting that early campaign for the playoff.
Everyone in the fanbase and nationally who didn’t believe Mario Cristobal could win a game like this looked pretty foolish on Saturday as the Ducks held on for a big win over the Buckeyes.
Put some respect on Oregon’s name.
