2. Ty Thompson throws his first touchdown pass

Ty Thompson hasn’t seen the field yet as a collegiate quarterback but that’s going to change on Saturday evening as he plays almost the entire second half against Stony Brook with Oregon up comfortably at halftime.

Mario Cristobal will get his backup quarterback some snaps and I truly believe that Thompson is QB2 over Robby Ashford and Jay Butterfield, given how close the competition was between him and Anthony Brown this fall. He nearly won the starting job, but Cristobal went with the veteran and it’s seemed to pay off through two games.

But that doesn’t mean Thompson can’t improve his stock still and potentially make Brown feel a little pressure or the tightening of his leash if he struggles later on.

We’ll see Thompson throw his first (of many) touchdown pass as a Duck against Stony Brook in the third quarter on Saturday, hitting Dont’e Thornton who will also reach the end zone for the first time in his career.

Brown will have a solid game but fans will be buzzing about Thompson’s performance in relief.
