1. Ty Thompson

I easily could have given this game ball to Anthony Brown who passed for 159 yards and a touchdown on 14-of-18 completions and he also rushed for another touchdown.

But I came away impressed with Ty Thompson in his first-ever action as a Duck. He started a little slow, making the safe passes, and then he found Dont’e Thornton on an intermediate route down the sideline and the freshman wideout took it to the house.

The second half was filled with talented freshmen making big plays as Thompson hit Thornton for a touchdown and also tight end Terrance Ferguson for a score. The freshman tight end was also worthy of game ball consideration after catching four passes for 31 yards and a touchdown.

Thompson made strong throws, looked confident, and ended the day with 82 yards and two touchdowns on 6-for-9 passing.

The first — of hopefully many — game balls for Thompson throughout his Oregon career.
