2. Ty Thompson has over 100 yards passing, two touchdowns

We got a healthy dose of Ty Thompson last week against Stony Brook because of a minor Anthony Brown injury and he played well, throwing for 82 yards and two touchdowns on 6-of-9 completions.

I think we’ll see Thompson again for an extended period of time on Saturday night. Will this be because Mario Cristobal wants to give his backup plenty of reps to prepare him in the case of a serious injury to Brown? More than likely, but he also wants to see what he has under center in 2022 and beyond. And if the first appearance was any indication, the Ducks are set for a while.

Thompson is going to play most of the second half again, but this time he’s going to eclipse 100 passing yards and he’ll throw two more touchdowns with no turnovers.

We’ll also see Thompson use his legs a bit. He’s not going to be the dual-threat that Brown is, but he’s going to make Arizona respect both his arm and legs.

Thompson will have another big day and sit at over 200 passing yards and four touchdowns on the season in a backup role.
