Off to a hot start after a 4-3 campaign last season, Oregon football is hoping to maintain that momentum in the month of October, but the schedule won’t ease up much.

Mario Cristobal is getting Kayvon Thibodeaux back before the Ducks’ Week 5 game which should help a ton defensively and the offense is only getting better with CJ Verdell, Anthony Brown, and Travis Dye all playing well. If Brown can develop a No. 1 target in the passing game, this offense is going to explode.

Oregon faces a couple of truly tough matchups this month and even a couple of chances for revenge.

How will the Ducks fare in the month of October?

Stanford was the team that kicked off Oregon’s 2020 season and the Cardinal will be the first real Pac-12 opponent for the Ducks in 2021 — sorry, Arizona.

Tanner McKee has been one of the best quarterbacks in the Pac-12 this season, throwing eight touchdown passes and no interceptions, but he hasn’t quite faced a defense as talented as Oregon’s. I think McKee is going to have his toughest game yet, throwing two touchdowns but matching that with two picks — yet another by Verone McKinley III.

CJ Verdell is going to have a huge game against one of the worst run defenses in the conference and both Travis Dye and Anthony Brown are going to chip in with solid games on the ground.

Oregon beat Stanford by three touchdowns last season but I think this matchup will be a little closer. Stanford has improved drastically, but the Cardinal aren’t there yet.

Final Score: Oregon 31, Stanford 21 (5-0, 2-0 Pac-12)
