Justin Herbert hasn’t even been in the NFL for two full seasons and the former Oregon football star is already making league history.

If you’re like any good Duck fan, you’ve been following Herbert’s NFL path so far and after he won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season, it’s been fairly exciting to tune in each week and see how he’s doing.

Obviously, his first season was an overwhelming success and Year 2 is off to a heck of a start as well.

While he may not lead the NFL MVP race just yet, he’s not far off after putting up 1,178 yards, nine touchdowns and three picks through his first four games. After a slow start to the year in which he threw just two touchdown passes to three picks in his first two games, he’s exploded for seven touchdown passes and a 2-0 record over his last two — including a win over Patrick Mahomes on the road.

Herbert probably doesn’t care about the stats, but he just surpassed an impressive mark that no other quarterback has hit quite as fast: fastest player to ever reach 500 completions.

Now, how’s that for an impressive feat? The first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to reach 500-plus completions before his 20th NFL start. Think of all the great quarterbacks that came before Herbert and that’s when this really becomes impressive.

Herbert adding to a growing list of accomplishments

Winning the rookie of the year award last year was a good start and he passed for 5,514 yards and 40 touchdowns with just 13 interceptions and a 67 percent completion rate. And now he’s on pace to follow that up with nearly 5,000 yards and 36 touchdowns this season.

Herbert is on pace to have a heck of an NFL career and I can bet that he’s going to have the most popular jersey in the state of Oregon.

Next. 3 takeaways from crushing loss to Stanford. dark
