2. We will see Ty Thompson

Cal has one of the worst pass defenses the Ducks will see this year, allowing over 280 yards per game through the air. And it’s not like the Golden Bears have played the best offenses in the country, they’ve seen TCU, Nevada, Sacramento State, Washington, and Washington State. And they’re 1-4 against that schedule.

Now it’s Oregon’s time to throw the ball around the yard and I think we’re going to see Anthony Brown struggle a little bit early on, giving way to Ty Thompson.

Brown won’t be terrible and Oregon will build a decent lead, but all the whispers of a quarterback competition during the offseason have probably gotten to the coaching staff. Mario Cristobal said that Brown is his guy, but he knows that the leash has been shortened.

With Brown struggling a bit, he may hear from the crowd and give in to a quarterback change with the game seemingly in hand. I don’t think this one will ever be in doubt, but the chants for Thompson will be hard to ignore in the second half.

We’re going to see Thompson and he’s going to be impressive.
