Mario Cristobal is at the top of the Christmas ‘get’ list for the Miami Hurricanes, but Oregon football has other ideas.

It is officially the time of year when coaches are wooed by other programs for an opportunity. Whether it be to go home or to take the next step in their careers. We have seen several Oregon Coaches depart over the years for just that.

Oregon Football Head Coach Mario Cristobal had had a lot on his mind of late, even stuff outside of football with the health of his mother back on the east coast. He went to visit her following the game against Oregon State. Now, the Miami Hurricanes, fresh off the search for a new athletic director are also looking for a new head coach for their football team. Why not zero in on a guy who has roots there and also played for the Hurricanes.

As of this writing, there is a private plane on its way from Miami to Las Vegas. Now, it could simply be someone headed to Vegas for a good time over the weekend, but we all know what or more specifically who it is.  For those of us who have covered college athletics for a while. it is a foregone conclusion.

According to the Oregonian and John Canzano, Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens is prepared for this situation. He has a new contract already prepared for the Oregon Head Coach. It even takes into consideration the monetary amounts given to Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly, who left their teams earlier this week for new opportunities.

With all this going on, it is likely that Cristobal has his focus on one thing. Beating Utah. Oregon has an opportunity to get back to the Rose Bowl and continue to build upon the success of this season.

Oregon and Utah meet in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium. Kickoff is set for just after 5 pm Pacific Time on ABC.
