Oregon Football: Lane Kiffin rumors are starting to heat up
Oregon football fans have been riding a rollercoaster of emotions lately after Mario Cristobal left for Miami. Could Lane Kiffin be his replacement?
Logging on to Twitter for the first time on Wednesday, little did Oregon football fans expect to see the name Lane Kiffin pop up as an option as the next head coach.
Kiffin just signed an extension to remain at Ole Miss through 2025, so why the heck would he bolt right after for the Oregon job? Well, before he signed the extension, Mario Cristobal was still the Ducks’ head coach. Now, one of the most prestigious coaching jobs in the country has opened up and there will undoubtedly be some big names mentioned for the vacancy.
On Wednesday, Kiffin rumors began to heat up thanks to Bud Elliott on the Cover 3 Podcast stating that he is a name to watch for in terms of Oregon’s open job.
Ducks fans caught on to this statement and ran with it on Wednesday.

Would Kiffin be open to hearing from Oregon? Absolutely. You can’t definitively say no before hearing about contract details and perks. You have to at least entertain if they come calling and offering more money than what Ole Miss did.
Kiffin should absolutely be an option and it would be silly for Oregon to not even reach out.
Who else could be Oregon football’s next head coach?
I’ve given my opinion about the favorites for the Oregon job and there are a few who stand out above the rest.
Some of my favorite options include Chip Kelly, Dave Aranda, Luke Fickell, and Chris Petersen. Adding Kiffin to that list, I think those are five guys you absolutely cannot go wrong with.
If the Ducks make a serious offer and are able to steal him from Ole Miss, you better believe college football’s coaching carousel will be a warzone.
