3. Tony Elliott, Clemson offensive coordinator

Oregon fans want to see a big, flashy name as the next head coach. A guy with plenty of success as a head coach in college already and one that is already a household name.

That wouldn’t be the case if the Ducks hired Tony Elliott.

While I don’t believe that Elliott is truly going to be considered by the Ducks (maybe a rumor here or there about an interview), it wouldn’t be a bad move to at least keep him on the Plan B list.

Elliott has been the offensive coordinator at Clemson for the past seven years and he was just named associate head coach this past season. Although the offense didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard this year, he’s coached some great players over the years while Clemson has put up some monster points under his control.

The Tigers are probably hoping he stays at Clemson because they already lost defensive coordinator Brent Venables to Oklahoma, but Virginia and Duke are pushing for Elliott.

Would Oregon inquire about one of the hottest coordinators in the country right now? It wouldn’t hurt even though he may not be everyone’s first choice.
