Oregon Football: 3 outside-the-box coaching candidates to consider
2. Kellen Moore, Cowboys offensive coordinator
Kellen Moore is a familiar name for Oregon fans because he went 2-0 during his playing career against the Ducks when he was Boise State’s starting quarterback.
Throughout his successful Boise State career, he had over 14,000 passing yards and 142 touchdowns while completing 70 percent of his passes all while playing under Chris Petersen, so you know he learned a thing or two about coaching. He tried his hand at being an NFL quarterback but it didn’t quite work out but he’s since turned into one of the brightest young offensive minds in the league as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator.
Moore has been talked about as a potential NFL head coach someday, but I don’t think he’s quite ready for that. Still, at the age of 33 and with plenty of respect from his peers, he could decide to take on college coaching at one of the top programs in the country.
Oregon fans may have rooted against Moore throughout his career when he went 2-0 against the Ducks in 2008-09, but there’s no way they’d be opposed to this move.
Moore might honestly be an option here and I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Ducks make a run at him.
