Oregon Football: Rumored candidate would “have fans over the moon”
Oregon football’s rumored head coaching candidate would Duck fans “over the moon” apparently. The possibilities are endless.
Oregon football fans are playing the waiting game as the athletic department searches for a new head coach to replace Mario Cristobal.
The waiting game can be brutal for fans because rumors are flying left and right and you never know which coach is going to gain the most steam. There have been guys like Lane Kiffin, Chip Kelly, Kalani Sitake, Justin Wilcox, and even Chris Petersen being mentioned as candidates, but the Ducks are playing this coaching search pretty close to the vest.
No one truly knows what Oregon is going to do, but there is a rumored “NFL coach” who the Ducks might be aiming for. It seems like Oregon is aiming for the fences, and you love to see that.
One report that came out on Thursday stated that Duck fans would be “over the moon” over one rumored candidate from a credible source.
Sure, this is one of those “why don’t you just say the name?” tweets that drive fans nuts, but it lets you imagine a little bit. Could it be Kiffin, Dave Aranda, or Urban? Even Dabo Swinney has been mentioned (I don’t think there’s any truth to that one).
There are a ton of big names on the board for Oregon as the coaching search heats up, but this type of tweet makes me think the Ducks are aiming for the top possible candidate.
“We will send Mario thank you cards for leaving us” is a bold statement if the coach isn’t an immediate national title threat.
Fans are begging the athletic department to aim big like schools such as USC and LSU in order to keep the Ducks in the national title conversation.
