Oregon Football: 3 early signees who’ll have instant impacts in 2022
Although Oregon’s football’s early signing class isn’t exactly full, there are some guys who will undoubtedly have an impact early on.
Wednesday was a pretty quiet day for Oregon football which isn’t the worst thing in the world, but the longer Dan Lanning is on campus, the more fireworks you’ll see on Early Signing Day.
The Ducks signed seven prospects so far in the class of 2022, but they’re clearly not done yet. Seven players are officially signed while five more remain committed but are waiting until February’s signing day to make it official. A coaching change will cause that.
Out of the seven signees, there are a few who will undoubtedly have an immediate impact with Lanning’s Ducks in 2022. Who are they?
Oregon should have most of its defensive line back next season with Brandon Dorlus, Kristian Williams, and Popo Aumavae all juniors or younger. But adding someone like Ben Roberts who can plug up the middle of that defensive line will do wonders for depth.
Roberts is a three-star defensive lineman on the composite rankings but 247Sports lists him as a four-star and the 40th-best player at the position in the country.
The former Washington commit stands 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 290 pounds, making him a force on the interior of the defensive line and I think he’s strong and explosive enough to make an immediate impact on the defense in 2022.
There’s a reason the nation’s No. 418 overall recruit signed with the Ducks in the middle of a coaching change and it’s because Lanning probably told him there’s a future for him there.
