Devon Jackson is a really talented linebacker and Dan Lanning has to feel really good about getting him signed with the 2022 class. He was one of the Ducks’ top commits in the class before the wheels fell off and a number of recruits decommitted and flipped so he’s going to be one of those beloved players in Eugene.

Jackson easily could have gone the easy route and chosen one of his nearly two-dozen other offers, including Miami with Mario Cristobal who recruited him, but he’s taking a chance on Lanning and he believes in Oregon’s future.

Linebacker isn’t exactly a weakness of Oregon roster, but Jackson is good enough that he should be able to crack the rotation early on.

Allen Trieu of 247Sports calls the four-star “one of the fastest linebackers in the class” which is great to hear if you’re Lanning. He’s going to be able to keep up with the speed of college ball and I could see him cracking that two-deep next season as an outside linebacker.

Jackson is ranked the 15th-best linebacker and No. 152 overall recruit in the class, per the composite.
