2. Pac-12 defenses are not the caliber of SEC defenses

Gone are the days of Bo Nix facing off against Georgia and Alabama in the SEC (OK, the Ducks do face the Bulldogs in the opener), which is only going to work wonders for the senior quarterback.

The SEC is known for having tough defenses and that was evident this season with it being home to seven of the top 50 total defenses in college football and two of them were in the top 10. The Pac-12 doesn’t quite have that same amount of defensive success as there were just two top-20 total defenses in the conference and none were in the top 10.

Nix being able to avoid Alabama, LSU, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Florida every year is only going to help his confidence. He’ll have to face Georgia (assuming he wins the starting job) in the season opener, however, which will be a nice test for him to begin 2022.

Once he gets past Georgia, though, he should be able to cruise through Pac-12 opponents as there were only three ranked in the top 50 defensively this season.
