Oregon football has made the top 10 of four-star 2023 quarterback Jaden Rashada. Do the Ducks stand a real chance with him?

Not often do you see recruiting news on major holidays, but four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada released his top 10 schools on Christmas Day. The four-star Oregon football target is down to just 10 schools and the Ducks are included on that trimmed list.

Along with the Ducks, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Penn State, UCLA, and Washington also made the cut.

The Pittsburg, Calif., native revealed his reasons for including each school on his final list on Saturday afternoon to 247Sports recruiting expert Brandon Huffman.

Regarding Oregon, he stated that he has a great relationship with new offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham and that he loves the school. This just goes to show that Dan Lanning made a heck of a hire at offensive coordinator. The fact that the Ducks are already in on one of the top-50 recruits in the 2023 class at the most important position says a lot about his recruiting prowess.

Does Oregon football have a real shot here?

Dillingham is going to help Lanning land some top offensive prospects and he’s going to sell a high-powered attack.

Rashada is ranked the No. 41 overall prospect and fifth-best quarterback in the 2023 class, according to the composite. He currently doesn’t have any crystal balls so there’s no real feel about where he may be headed.

The fact that he’s a West Coast kid might help the Ducks but UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, UCLA, and Washington are all in that same boat. He looks like a Pac-12 quarterback but the draw of some top schools out east like Oklahoma, Arkansas, Auburn, and Penn State might be too much.

I would give Oregon a real shot here, but I feel like he may need to see the staff put some trust in a guy like Ty Thompson in order to win him over. If he sees the staff value a young quarterback and give him a real shot to start over a veteran like Bo Nix, he’ll realize that he has a chance to play early in Eugene.

Oregon has a shot, but Dillingham has some work to do.
