2. The distraction of Caleb Williams’ uncertain future

There’s an elephant in the room for Oklahoma heading into the final game of the season and right before the official start of the Sooners’ offseason: the future of Caleb Williams.

The talented freshman quarterback who stole the starting job from Spencer Rattler has yet to confirm his return in 2022 nor deny the notion that he could be looking for a new program. Lincoln Riley and USC might be in the back of his mind and that distraction could cause him to have a poor performance against a solid Oregon defense.

Although Kayvon Thibodeaux and Mykael Wright aren’t playing in the bowl, Oregon has more than enough pieces to make his life difficult on Wednesday night.

Not knowing if he truly wants to remain with the Sooners past this game has to be eating at him and that will carry over into the Alamo Bowl.
