Oregon Football: 3 positives to take from Alamo Bowl loss
1. This team didn’t quit when it would have been easy to do
It would have been so easy to mail it in at halftime. The score was 30-3 and Oregon couldn’t do much of anything against Oklahoma. They were struggling to move the ball and the defense was getting torched by Caleb Williams and Co.
The easiest thing to do would have been to just coast in the final 30 minutes and head into the 2022 season with a fresh start after hitting the reset button.
I mean, the Alamo Bowl was already a disappointing enough destination, so why even try to come back in the second half against a team that was red-hot?
Oregon didn’t go that route. The Ducks decided to fight. It was one of the most impressive efforts from this team all season, making Oklahoma sweat out the final 30 minutes by outscoring the Sooners 29-17 in the second half and nearly pulling within a touchdown down the stretch.
Just think, if this team of backups and underclassmen didn’t quit in a game that seemed out of reach with an interim head coach leading the way, they’re likely going to be a problem next year for opponents in the Pac-12. The best is yet to come for this young squad.
