With the 2021 Oregon football season in the books, who should Dan Lanning be eyeing in the transfer portal for the 2022 campaign?

We are just days away from the official end of the 2021 season and Dan Lanning’s last game with Georgia. In just a few days, Lanning will be in Eugene full-time as Oregon football’s next coach.

Duck fans will be rooting hard for Lanning in the national title game on Monday night against Alabama but he’s already proven himself worthy of the job with a fantastic gameplan against a red-hot Michigan team in the Orange Bowl.

Now he has to start thinking about who he’ll be targeting in the transfer portal at his next destination and I think there are some impressive names on the market.

Which early transfer portal names should Lanning keep an eye on?

Losing Kayvon Thibodeaux is going to be a major hit to this defensive line next season and with Dan Lanning being a defensive guy, he’s going to be keeping an eye on some names on that side of the ball in the portal. An early one that sticks out is Antonio Doyle.

The former four-star, top-100 recruit from the 2020 class announced his intention to transfer from Texas A&M back in November.

Doyle came to Texas A&M as an inside linebacker, but his size and athleticism kind of made him a perfect candidate to make the switch to the edge. He didn’t play as a freshman and had seven tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in two games in his second year in College Station in 2021.

The 6-3, 250-pound edge rusher was recruited by Georgia in 2020 so Lanning is familiar with the name and he’d be a heck of an addition.
