When Mario Williams announced he’d be hitting the transfer portal this offseason, just about every major program in need of a proven receiver began to salivate.

That has to include Dan Lanning and Oregon.

The Ducks are losing a ton from the receiving corps this offseason in Devon Williams, Mycah Pittman, Jaylon Redd, and Johnny Johnson III. The returning players are mostly underclassmen and while guys like Kris Hutson, Troy Franklin, and Dont’e Thornton are all incredibly talented, adding a proven wideout like Williams would be a massive win.

Williams was recruited by Georgia and Oregon before choosing Oklahoma so Lanning is familiar with this prospect and he’s well aware of what the Ducks have to offer.

This could be a great fit because Williams could come in right away and be that No. 1 receiver after his breakout freshman season with the Sooners. He finished 2021 with 380 yards and four touchdowns on 35 catches.

Lanning would love to land the former No. 43 overall recruit in the 2021 class.
