I could have saved this spot for a number of guys like Dave Iuli or TJ Dudley — both former Oregon commits — but I believe that Jahlil Florence is the most important former Duck pledge currently on the big board for Dan Lanning.

Plus, Florence may be the most likely to commit to Oregon.

The four-star cornerback from San Diego is actually teammates with Oregon’s top signee Jalil Tucker and that might help lure him to Eugene. He also recently stated that he was shutting things down and not taking any of his planned January visits so the only schools he’s seen in person are Oregon and USC. You’d have to think those two programs lead for him.

What makes things even more interesting is the fact that Oregon coaches visited him at his home in San Diego on Thursday night at midnight when the dead period officially ended. He said that the coaches “definitely showed that I’m a top priority” in a video with Demetrice Martin and Tosh Lupoi.

If that’s not a good sign, I don’t know what is.

The former Oregon commit is ranked the No. 72 overall prospect and 11th-best cornerback in the class, according to 247Sports.
