Oregon football’s 2022 recruiting class superlatives
Instant impact players
I’m going to go with two impact players from the Ducks’ 2022 class here, one from each side of the ball. Oregon has a handful of guys who could play right away and fill needs, but these are the most likely to play right away and have an impact in 2022.
Offense: Jordan James
Yup, it’s that name again. Jordan James was the most surprising commitment and signee for the Ducks and I also think he’s got the best chance to see the field right away on the offensive side of the ball. The Ducks lost three key running backs this offseason and return just two guys with experience in the backfield.
That’s where James comes into play.
James was a top-200 recruit and one of the best backs in the class and he’s going to play a nice complementary role to Sean Dollars and Byron Cardwell. I think he could even slide into an RB2 role at some point next season.
Defense: Jahlil Florence/Jalil Tucker
Oregon lost Mykael Wright to the NFL draft and DJ James to Auburn via the transfer portal this offseason which leaves a potential void in the secondary for a talented cornerback like Jahlil Florence to fill.
I could also see Jalil Tucker, teammate of Florence’s in high school, having an immediate impact because both are incredibly talented. The two would make a heck of a combo at cornerback for the Ducks and might be the start of a lockdown era in Eugene.
Behind guys like Trikweze Bridges, Avante Dickerson, and Dontae Manning, I could see Florence and Tucker really pushing for early time and proving themselves worthy of meaningful snaps.
