Kayvon Thibodeaux was a player that opposing teams circled before they faced Oregon the last two seasons, but the former Duck has fallen slightly in recent mock drafts.

With the 2022 NFL Draft starting in less than a week, we take a look at where two of the bigger sports sites in CBS Sports and NFL.com have the former Oregon Defensive Star going in their mock drafts.

Some are now concerned that Kayvon Thibodeaux is more concerned with things other than playing football. He sat out of the final game of the 2021 season for Oregon, not due to injury, but for draft preparation, which I understand. He really had nothing to add to his video highlights from his brief career with the Ducks. He departed following just his sophomore season and clearly did enough to open some eyes at the next level to be a first-round draft selection.

There was one point where he was battling with Michigan Edge Rusher Aidan Hutchinson for the possible number one pick, but this is likely no longer the case. While Hutchinson is the likely first name off the board to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Thibodeau may not have long to wait.

Both CBS Sports and NFL.com have Kayvon Thibodeaux falling six spots to number seven and still in the top ten and landing with the New York Giants, who will certainly use his size, speed, and attitude to their advantage with their pass rush.

Thibodeaux has the ability to play both inside and outside and the defensive coordinator will certainly take advantage of having a player with versatility on defense, which in some cases may be an added bonus of a first-round draft pick.

In his final season with Oregon Football, he had some career highs including 9 tackles against UCLA and two sacks against Washington State during the regular season.

The 2022 NFL Draft begins on Thursday April 28th and runs through Saturday, April 30th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
