Looking at the odds, matchups, and predictions for Oregon vs Eastern Washington in Week 2 college football action.

In past seasons, games against FCS teams like Eastern Washington were simply a win and a windfall payday for the opponent. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning should not overlook Eastern Washington who has found some positive momentum over the last few years at the FCS level, making the playoffs in 2020-21 and starting 2022 with a win.

Last season the Eagles had a near 1,000-yard rusher, a 1,000-yard receiver, and a quarterback that threw for over 5,000 yards on the year. Despite nearly losing in their season opener last Saturday, the high-powered offense was still evident. Quarterback Gunner Talkington saw his team off to a 1-0 start throwing for over 340 yards and five touchdowns.

The EW run game also found success vs Tennessee State. Talkington was responsible for 60 yards with his legs of the 126 yards on the ground. Despite them being one division down from Oregon football, don’t discount the talent and what Eastern Washington has worked towards.

The Eagles entered the season ranked 13th in the FCS and will likely move higher following the 36-29 win vs Tennessee State.

Oregon vs Eastern Washington Odds Week 2

Per Vegas Insider, the Ducks are 21-point favorites against Eastern Washington, with an over/under of 70.5 points.

Oregon football returns home following a tough loss against Georgia. The Ducks were held out of the endzone for the first time since the 2017 season and the defense looked questionable for most of the game. As with past coaching staffs, the team has flushed the loss and turned the page to Eastern Washington.

Like Georgia vs Oregon, the Bulldogs’ talent was better. This week, Oregon should have the upper hand vs Eastern Washington. One player the Ducks’ defense will have to keep an eye on is 6-foot-tall wideout Efton Chism III.

Chism had 9 touchdowns last season and had two in their opener off 53 yards receiving vs Tennessee State. Talkington showed off his ability to throw the ball to three different wide receivers in the victory.

Oregon vs Eastern Washington Prediction Week 2

The Ducks should bounce back in a big way against an FCS opponent, but based on what we saw offensively against Georgia, a 21-point spread may look too big. The Georgia defense is one of the best in the country, so expect Bo Nix and the rest of the Oregon offense to show they can put some points on the board against a lesser opponent.

Ducks should cover the spread, but 70.5 points may be too steep. Under is more likely.

Oregon and Eastern Washington meet in the Duck’s home opener at Autzen Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 5:30 pm Pacific Time on Pac-12 Network.
