Oregon Basketball and head coach Dana Altman have found a way to add junior college talent once again. Altman seems to have a knack for knowing what his team needs to excel and added Tyrone Williams for the upcoming season.

Williams was the leading scorer in junior college basketball the last two seasons averaging better than 27 points per game. He shot better than 50 percent last season for Grayson College last season. He also shot better than 40 percent from three-point range.

It was reported last month by 247Sports that Williams was close to signing with Oregon having already committed. Altman spoke then about him joining after tying up some loose ends as the team was set to depart for Canada for a week of exhibition games and workouts. Williams finished up some summer work and was able to complete the process and will join Oregon basketball for this upcoming season.

Tyrone Williams is a player that Altman wants on the floor. He can put up points and clearly has experience at the junior college level with finding a way to the basket. In three years at the junior college level, he scored 1,756 points putting up over 500 points each season. In his career, he has made 158 three-pointers and will compete for a starting spot.

This is another season for Dana Altman and the Oregon basketball program that probably should be a rebuilding year, but with his teams, he always finds a way to turn it into more of a reloading season getting his guys to compete and finding the right spots on the floor to fill out his roster. He has done this in the past with players like Jacob Young, who has now graduated.

De’Vion Harmon has also departed leaving a spot open in the starting lineup. Tyrone Williams joins six-year man Will Richardson along with another JUCO talent in Brennan Rigsby. The trip to Canada last month helped this team to build some early chemistry and momentum leading into the upcoming season.

The Oregon basketball season begins on Monday, November 7th as the team hosts Florida A&M at Matthew Knight Arena for a 7 pm Pacific Time tipoff.
