Oregon football 2023 schedule released, features key home games
Oregon football fans can start planning for next season with the 2023 schedule now officially released.
It took a little longer this year, but the 2023 Oregon football schedule was released Wednesday. It features a lighter non-conference schedule compared to 2022 and a total of nine games against Pac-12 opponents, including several marquee matchups later in the season.
Oregon football does not see anyone close to Georgia to start the season, but if the wins come, I still expect this team to be able to compete for a national championship in 2023. Oregon opens with Portland State on September 2nd before traveling to Texas Tech for a non-conference game on September 9th.
The Ducks then return home to face Hawai’i on September 16th and open their Pac-12 slate with a storyline game against Colorado and their new head coach Deion Sanders. He has made some waves since his introductory press conference and the attention this matchup receives in the weeks leading to the game should be popcorn-eating material.
Oregon hits the road to face Stanford on the farm following the game with the Buffaloes before a bye and back-to-back games against Washington State at home and Washington on the road. Last season the Cougars gave the Ducks everything they could handle in Pullman. Head Coach Dan Lanning found a way to come from behind and win the game.
Utah is again on the Ducks calendar in 2023 and this time around it is a visit to Rice Eccles Stadium on October 28th. Expect this game to have a lot of eyeballs leading into several key November matchups. Following Utah, Oregon has back-to-back home games hosting California on November 4th.
The game of the year in the Pac-12 may be the following week with the USC Trojans and Caleb Williams coming to Eugene for the first time in several years. If the season starts well for both teams, we could easily be seeing a top-ten matchup in Eugene between Williams and Bo Nix.
Oregon hits the road one last time on November 18th to visit Arizona State and another one to circle on the calendar. Kenny Dillingham, the former Oregon Offensive Coordinator will be well-prepared for Lanning and Company.
The Ducks close out the regular season in 2023 hosting the Oregon State Beavers on November 23rd. It is the only Friday game on the Oregon schedule for the season.
Overall, this lines up as a favorable schedule for Oregon. There are seven home games, with some of the more important games played in Eugene including USC and Oregon State. Game times will be assigned at a later date, but I expect we should see some details for the earlier non-conference games sometime in the next month and a half.
