Oregon Basketball: Non-conference slate features Michigan coming to Eugene

Oregon Basketball Head Coach Dana Altman was not happy last season with the turnout when the Ducks hosted Wisconsin. It was a game the Badgers won, ending Oregon’s season. At the end of the game, Altman went on a small tirade about attendance, about the team, and how they deserved to have fans in the seats. He later apologized, but his comments at the time were actually legitimate.

On Monday, the 2023-24 non-conference schedule was released, and Oregon will host a team on December 3rd in a game that has been a long-time scheduling. The Michigan Wolverines will come to Oregon and Matthew Knight Arena. It will likely be among the marquee non-conference games of the season.

Ahead of next season where the Ducks will join the Big Ten Conference, Oregon may also see another Big Ten team on the basketball court in Ohio State to start the season.

Five of the eleven non-conference games will be played at Matthew Knight Arena, including several back-to-back games. Oregon also has several tournaments scheduled including the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Florida where they will face Santa Clara on November 24th and Alabama or Ohio State on November 25th.

Oregon Basketball opens the season facing Georgia on the hardwood in the Hall of Fame Series from Las Vegas on November 6th before two home games against Montana and Tennessee State on November 10th and 17th respectively. Oregon travels to Tallahassee, Florida to take on Florida A&M on November 20th.

The Ducks play four of five games to close out the non-conference schedule in December starting with Michigan on December 3rd. Oregon will then host UTEP and Cal Baptist on December 9th and 12th respectively. Dana Altman’s team with then travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to face Syracuse on December 17th before closing out non-conference play by hosting Kent State on December 21st.

Oregon starts Pac-12 play hosting USC and UCLA the week of December 27th-31st. Weekly pairings have been announced for the season, but game times will be announced at a later date.
