After winning its first ever Rose Bowl appearance, Oregon lost in its next four trips to Pasadena and nearly needed 100 years to win another one. Oregon won the Pac-12 for the third time in Chip Kelly’s third year and won its first bowl game with Kelly as the team’s head coach.
With 56 points scored in the first half, this game set the record for highest scoring first half in Rose Bowl history. De’Anthony Thomas also broke records for longest rushing touchdown in Rose Bowl history with his 91-yard TD run in the first quarter and the record for most 60+ yards touchdown runs in Rose Bowl history with two.
2015: Oregon 59 FSU 20
Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston were widely considered the best quarterbacks in the country, but in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Rose Bowl, Mariota outdueled Winston and the reigning national champions. Winston still went first overall in the 2015 draft, one pick ahead of Mariota.

In Justin Herbert’s final game at Oregon, he went 14/20 for 138 yards with an interception, but he ran for 29 yards and three touchdowns.
