The Oregon Ducks head into the 2026 college football season as one of the frontrunners to win the National Championship. If the Ducks are going to finally bring a championship to Eugene, it's going to take contributions from more than just the stars like Dante Moore, A'Mauri Washington, and others. While the roster is loaded with veteran talent, the freshman class Dan Lanning and the staff brought in is loaded with players capable of making an instant impact.
The 5 Oregon freshmen set to impact the Ducks' championship chase
Tommy Tofi - Offensive Line
When Tommy Tofi arrived on campus this Spring as an early enrollee, he instantly looked advanced beyond his years. As the momentum has continued into Fall Camp, it's starting to look like a question of where Tommy Tofi will start rather than if he'll start. Tofi is in the mix for playing time at Guard or Tackle, and it looks like he's done enough to earn the starting right tackle job out of camp.
Immanuel Iheanacho - Offensive Line
Showing up in the Summer rather than being an early enrollee makes it harder to crack the starting lineup as a true freshman. While Immanuel Iheanacho enrolled in the Summer, he's looked the part of a 5-star signee, earning high praise from Offensive Line Coach A'Lique Terry. Even if Iheanacho can't crack the starting lineup to start the season, he'll have a chance to be the next man up in case of injury.
Jalen Lott - Wide Receiver
Arriving with Immanuel Iheanacho this Summer was another 5-star recruit for the Ducks in wide receiver Jalen Lott. Instantly upon arriving in Eugene, Jalen Lott started to impress with great plays in practice. Oregon will likely deploy Dakorien Moore, Evan Stewart, Jeremiah McClellan, and Iverson Hooks the most, but Lott could easily get a ton of playing time in the offense.
Kendre Harrison - Tight End
Heading into the season, starting tight end Jamari Johnson is a projected 1st-round pick and one of the most valuable players on the roster. The ability to split Johnson out wide as well as the other tight ends gives the Ducks a chance to throw a ton of different looks at opposing defenses. 5-star signee Kendre Harrison has flashed his talent throughout camp, and he should be a weapon for the Ducks in a lot of ways.
Anthony Jones - Defensive Line
Anthony "Tank" Jones has been the least talked about of Oregon's 5-star signees in part due to the fact that the Ducks are loaded at edge rusher. Jones certainly sees the group in front of him and is clearly committed to finding a path to playing time as he's bulked up to 301 pounds. The added size will allow Jones to kick inside and help on the interior while also continuing to prepare for a long-term role at edge rusher.
