They're two young, attractive, successful people who were lucky enough to discover each other in celebrity-obsessed L.A. and they appear to be having the time of their lives.

He's the former Oregon quarterback, a four-year starter from Sheldon High School in Eugene, second all-time in career wins with 29, career passing yards, 10,541 and touchdowns, 95, all behind another fan favorite, Marcus Mariota. In 2019 he came back for his senior year and led the Ducks to a 12-2 record and a win in the Rose Bowl with three touchdowns rushing.

He won the Campbell Trophy for academic excellence, tutored in the biology lab in his time away from football. At Sheldon he starred in three sports and co-founded the Fishing Club, serving as its first president.

She's a Jewish girl from Jericho, New York, a pop singer and songwriter whose hits include "Make You Mine" and "Reckless." She was a model as a child, first discovered as a singer as a teenager and she's also acted.

According to Herbert in an interview he gave at the start of training camp, the two met through mutual friends. They had coffee, he said, and played chess. It started as a friendship.

Recently they've gone more public, exchanging a sideline kiss before one of his games, attending a Laker basketball game on Friday in which he went viral for saving her from an errant basketball.

Herbert has a little time off from the football grind after throwing 227 yards and three touchdowns Thursday night in a 37-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The Chargers are 5-3, 2-0 since the couple started officially dating.

On Saturday they attended a team Halloween party, dressing in matching sailor outfits.

With the team not due to play again until next Sunday, a road game at Tennessee, they caught the Dodgers World Series Game 2 against Toronto. Shohei Otani hit two doubles and two home runs in a 6-5 L.A. victory in 18 innings, taking a 2-1 lead in the series. The Blue Jays walked him five times.

Herbert and Beer got a visit from Justin Beiber, who helped launch the singer's career when she was 13. He reposted a YouTube video of her singing Etta James' iconic wedding song, "At Last." The video went viral and a star was born. Bieber chatted a bit before returning to a suite where he watched the game with his wife.

Despite gaining so much attention for provocative outfits and her looks, the 26-year-old singer is creative and talented. The two wear their celebrity gracefully, though Herbert's still a little uncomfortable in the spotlight.

The surest sign that it's a real thing and not a publicity romance: They've started following each other's parents on Facebook.

Herbert and the Chargers return to practice on Tuesday. They play the Titans Sunday at 10 a.m. PT on CBS. He's the NFL leader in passing yards this season with 2,140, 41 yards ahead of Patrick Mahomes, a game behind Bo Nix in the standings though on track for the playoffs.
